Dr. Robert McMahon is a clinical psychologist who specializes in treating adolescents, adults, and couples. He works with clients with a range of concerns including depression, anxiety disorders, attention problems, stress related difficulties, and relationship concerns.
His clinical experience includes training at the La Jolla Center for Neurological Development - Springall Campus, Excelsior Academy of San Diego, AIDS Response Center in San Diego, Charter Hospital/API in San Diego, and post-doctoral work at UC Davis Department of Psychiatry.
In addition to his private practice, Dr. Robert McMahon is a guest lecturer at Alliant International University. Dr. McMahon has also served as adjunct faculty at Sacramento State University (CSUS) where he lectured on abnormal psychology, adolescent development, professional ethics, and the psychology of stress.
Dr. Robert McMahon has a background and training in working with clients who are undergoing a variety of stress conditions. He encourages his clients to understand the dynamics of stress and he encourages stress reduction, mindfulness practices, relaxation training and self-care.
Dr. McMahon also has received training in mindfulness and psychotherapy through the training and readings of Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D
