Mindful eating has the potential to transform a person's relationship to food and eating, to improve overall health, body image, relationships and self-esteem

.

Mindful eating involves many components such as:

  • learning to make choices in beginning or ending a meal based on awareness of hunger and satiety cues;

  • learning to identify triggers for mindless eating, such as emotions, social pressures, or certain foods;

  • valuing the quality of what you’re eating;

  • feeling gratitude that may come from appreciating and experiencing food

  • Mindful eating draws on the use of mindfulness meditation.  This group will be an experiential therapy group in which participants engage in learning mindful meditation practices as well as using talk therapy, journaling, and reflection.  Each session will begin with a gentle yoga practice, where you will learn specific yoga postures and sequences to support your new way of eating and reconnect you to your physical body and the pleasure of mindful movement.
